Elrond Lawrence is a writer, photographer, and communications veteran with a love for railroads, vintage highways and historic towns. He is the Acquisitions & Marketing Coordinator for the Center for Railroad Photography & Art and he continues to create freelance articles, photography, and book projects.

Elrond’s work appears regularly in Trains, Railfan & Railroad, Railroad Heritage, books, and calendars. The second edition of his book Route 66 Railway is out of print. In 2020 he authored a coffee table book about Kaiser Permanente Riverside’s 30th anniversary.

A confessed fan of Star Wars, Star Trek, and all things geek, Elrond is a media junkie and SF Giants baseball fan. He lives in California’s Monterey County with his wife Laura, two cats, and a Southern Pacific searchlight signal.

Background

Elrond grew up in Fontana, California, and earned his degree in Communication from California State University, San Bernardino. From 1990 to 2000 he worked in public relations for Kaiser Permanente, followed by the Ketchum agency, the San Jose Downtown Association, and HRmarketer. From 2014 to 2022 he managed communications and social media for the Episcopal Diocese of El Camino Real.
