About Elrond

Elrond Lawrence is a writer, photographer, and PR executive with a passion for railroads and roadside America. He grew up in Southern California’s San Bernardino Valley  and received a bachelor’s degree in Communication from California State University, San Bernardino. From 1990 to 2002 he worked primarily in public relations for Kaiser Permanente, the Ketchum agency and the San Jose Downtown Association. From 2003-2012 he worked with Fisher Vista, a marketing services and software agency specializing in the HR and healthcare fields.

Elrond began photography as a teenager largely because of his love for railroads, but he quickly discovered a passion for photography in all its forms.  His work appears regularly in magazines, books, calendars, and advertising — clients include Trains magazine, Union Pacific Railroad, Kaiser Permanente, Coastal Grower magazine and more. His first coffee-table book, Route 66 Railway, was released in November 2008 to critical praise and sold out in 2011.

A confessed Star Wars/Star Trek fan, media geek and Giants baseball fan, Elrond lives near Salinas, Calif., with his wife Laura, daughter Kathryn, and three cats.
