Santa Fe 4-8-4 no. 3751 rolls over a timeworn wooden trestle at San Elijo Lagoon, leading a northbound excursion from San Diego in June 2008. The 1927-built engine just completed her third trip to San Diego on May 1-2, and will be heading to San Bernardino, Cal., on May 8-9 for the city’s bicentennial “Railroad Days” event. I’ll be signing copies of Route 66 Railway on Saturday. Hope to see you there! For more photos, visit the “Outside is America” blog by clicking HERE. To learn more about 3751, visit www.sbrhs.org.

Your photo is so surreal and certainly posses tranquility as the scene is magical and calms the soul of iron muscle with modern comfort. My family and I took a Coast Starlight trip from Santa Clara to Washington State and our experience is unforgettable. Your picture captures many memories and the hearts of train lovers. Great job as this photo is a “blue-ribbon” winner or you placed “Gold” as it’s perfect in landscape and location!
Hi Elrond!
Great meeting you on Friday at Phil’s Fish Market and getting the fabulous 6 pictures! Thanks again on donating your professional & awesome talents of capturing the historical Santa Cruz Line to our club! The photos will be on display in our Memorabilia cabinet as one of our “high lights” from a great Sponsor!
One special request is of this beautiful shot of the Santa Fe 3751 in action with your autograph on it! As I will be honored and humbled to have it! I can send a check for the cost of printing and handeling, too.
Please whenever you have a chance send it to our club at PO box 612, Freedom, CA 95019-0612
Hopefully you can make the fair with your family this week or weekend!
Cheers,
Jim Swertel
